February 5, 2018 –
As some of you might know from recent Facebook posts I have been spending a significant amount of time going back through older images starting with 2006 when I first switched to digital. This endeavor has proved to be very interesting.
First of all, looking at these older photos has shown me how much I have evolved as a photographer, both in skill and equipment. Not that I didn’t take a good image occasionally, there were some.
Secondly, I was like a kid in a candy store, most pics were like brand new! (We won’t discuss my memory entering into it, at least not here).
Thirdly, and most importantly, going back through these images with “Fresh Eyes” allowed me to look at some more objectively and I actually found photographs that were quality and usable for various purposes.
I believe what has happened to me more times than I care to admit is when looking through a new batch of images right after the shoot I would see one, two or however many that caught my eye right off and I would gravitate back to these without spending due time really looking through the rest. I think sometimes the best got lost in the shuffle.
So, the moral to my ramblings today is every once in a while, look back through your older images, you might be surprised what you might find!
Cheers and Happy Shooting,
This image has been sitting in the archives since 2009 and is a good example of my rambling, a good image of behavior. Had I not gone back it would still be there. It could be titled Brotherly Love, Sibling Rivalry, Survival of the Fittest or ??
