South Steens HMA is located south of Frenchglen, Oregon, east of state Highway 205. The Steens Mountain Loop Road runs through the HMA. This HMA contains approximately 130,000 acres of rugged high desert on the flank of Steens Mountain. Pintos are the most prominent coloration of Mustang found on the Steens but also visible are Dun, Sorrel, Bay, Palomino, and Roans.
